Yokhuselo Haven's Donations

Yokhuselo Haven is a safe place for abused women and their children. That includes all types of abuse, gender based violence, rape and domestic violence. We are dependent on donations and fundraising...

to honour our expenses of R35 000 per month as the women are not expected to pay for the food, accommodation, toiletries or clothes. Most of the time the women and children arrives at the Haven with nothing but only the clothes that they wear.

It is therefore heart-warming to receive donation in any form - being it second hand clothes, crockery, food, or monetary to mention a few.

The Haven experienced abundance blessings in the past year. Organisations, Trusts, Beauty Houses, local government, private businesses, individuals (their time and donations), retailers, and service clubs donated to us -

  • Avon
  • Children’s Feeding Trust
  • Eastern Cape Motors
  • Grey High School
  • National Lottery Commission
  • Newton College
  • Newton Park Methodist Church
  • NMBM
  • PE Charitable Trust
  • Rosser Charity Trust
  • Rotary Sunrise
  • SABC
  • Soroptimist International
  • Spar Eastern Cape

Yokhuselo manage to upgrade and equip their Skills Centre with supplies and stock for card making, bead work, stain glass and also accredited computer training through a registered service provider in Newton Park.

The organisation was sponsored a vehicle by the National Lotteries Commission to transport the group from one point to another and be able to pick up donations of food, furniture, second hand clothes etc.

The bathrooms, lounge, dining room were upgraded. The kitchen was fitted out with a new stove, pots and pans and electric equipment to assist in the training of making economical meals and baking of biscuits. The idea of the skills training is to empower the ladies to use these skills to generate an extra income once they are integrated in the community.

It also allows the Organisation to give a stipend to trainers. The trainers of all the above to cover their transport cost and an amount was earmarked to appoint a much needed Social Worker for a contract period at the Haven.

These donations are such a blessing to us as it is sometimes difficult to make ends meet as we do not receive any subsidy from the State or any other organ.

Be assured of our heartfelt thanks to each and every one who donated something and may you be blessed.
